In today’s fast-paced environment of computer-aided manufacturing, many companies are seeking innovative ways to enhance their throughput while maintaining tolerances and the quality their customers demand. Photon-X 3D imaging systems offer the technology needed to meet these goals. Our innovative and patented sensor system utilizes a single camera to collect accurate 3D information about the surface under inspection. By eliminating the need for multiple camera angles, laser illumination or moving targets to generate usable data, machine vision systems based on our sensor technology can be less costly and easier to install, and as passive devices, present no hazard to personnel from laser radiation.

The Photon-X 3D spatial phase imaging system can rapidly provide high-accuracy data about the three-dimensional surface features of its target. This information can be processed by existing applications to determine area, volume, or height of surface features. Our patented, innovative approach to characterizing surface elements is angle-invariant and easily scaled to suit a variety of applications. This allows surface features to be recognized at a variety of distances and angles. By simply changing its field of view, our technology has been successfully demonstrated in systems whose imaged targets range in size from microscopic crystals, to faces, automobiles, aircraft, up to terrain features measuring hundreds of meters in width at several kilometers from the sensor unit itself.
